quick update

This is just a quick update post. I need to break the streak of not posting to this blog.

The garden is realy going like gang busters. We are getting three or four courgettes every day. We are starting to get sungold tomatoes by the bowl full daily as well. We have harvested almost all our small shallots along with our onions and garlic. We have let our borloto beans go past green bean stage and now plan to harvest them for fresh beans. We lost one of our towers of scarlet runner beans in one of the recent storms. We seem to be having storms every three days this summer. The ducks are doing well. I cleaned out their pond yesterday and refilled it with rainwater captured from the pole barn.

Too bad about your runner beans, we have had that happen before as well...too many times. It sounds like your garden is doing great this year. Hopefully your weather will start to behave itself and not damage your crops any more.

I came to visit through Jo's blog at 14 acres, then I see you are one of my followers, too! I have been too busy to check my sidebar lately. You have a wonderful place and everything looks delicious and so healthy! I'm sorry to hear of the passing of your dog, it is truly one of life's saddest moments. Look forward to surfing your past entries. And a big "HELLO NEIGHBOR!" - I grew up in WELCH, LOL... small world isn't it?

My runner bean tower fell over in a storm too, snapped the post right off. I had three vines going on it, one vine died but the other two are still living, the tower is leaning askew against the garden fence. I am hope hope hoping I will get some seed from it, so I can continue growing these year after year. They are known as "Rick's beans" here. Thanks for the update.

I do crave fresh veggies-truly fresh, not supermarket fresh. Farmer's Markets around here make it almost prohibitive, and our 1/4 acre doesn't help.

Oh well, we've got tomato plants, jalapeno peppers, and some herbs.

Great blog!!

I'm so jealous...my garden has done little to nothing this season...too hot and no rain! Yuck!

I'm jealous of your garden, my garden consists of dead grass and an overdose of weed. I've thought about my garden filled with marijuana plants to plant, but rather because it requires much care anyway, I decided not to.

We relate to this blog. :-)
Just used up all our onions. We had a run on them. Still got runner beans though :-)
