I came in tonight to set out my thoughts about the passing of our beloved farm dog Cooper and found that my lovely wife had already written the most perfect post. She posted over at
Lefse and Kimchee. So I will settle for a bunch of pictures instead.
To Cooper.
I hope to someday be as good a man as he thought I was.

Rick, I'm so sorry to hear about Cooper, it sounds like he was a wonderful part of your family and will be greatly missed.
I'm sorry. I hope the brisket didn't affect him. If so, I feel guilty. If not, then I'm glad I was able to bring a little joy to him in the end.
Very sorry, Rick. It does indeed sound like he had his choice of homes, which is about as good as it gets for a dog. You gave him a great life.
Thank you all for your kind words.
No Leah, The vet thought it was probably a nerve condition and had nothing to do with what he was fed. I am glad you gave him brisket. I am sure he enjoyed it.
Rick - Sorry about your loss of Cooper. Losing a dog is always a hard thing to deal with. I enjoyed reading you blog(which I came across on the "next blog" button). Sounds like we're something of a kindred spirit when it comes to gardening but I'm only a few years into it (retirement) and, at this time of year, here in East Texas, we're just trying to keep a few things alive in all of the heat!
Jim-Thanks for the kind thoughts and welcome. I spent a summer in east Texas once. The wild fig bush was a revelation but so were the fire ants. Best of luck down there.
Oh no no no no. I'm very sad to hear this. My son was just asking about Cooper the other day, and when we'd get see him again at your farm.
I am so very sorry for your loss, but happy that he did choose you and Jessica to be his owners.
I'm so sorry you lost your Yellow Dog, Rick. There's just something special about those Labs, isn't there.
